The spring proved to be an exciting time for Ambassador Cho in the pursuit of strengthening Korea-U.S. relations. He began the quarter by attending a welcome reception at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ambassador Cho commended the Chamber’s efforts in promoting the KORUS free trade agreement and in further developing the economic and commercial relations between Korea and the United States and expressed that he hopes to continue to work closely with the Chamber. He mentioned that he hopes to work together to further strengthen the reciprocal benefits of the KORUS FTA and to create more opportunities that are future-oriented for economic cooperation.
Later in the month, Ambassador Cho met with former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and discussed economic trends in the U.S. and China. They shared their opinions on the progress and prospective growth of the economies of China and North Korea.
In May, the Korean Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. to celebrate global culture and all things Korean during Passport DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour! Each year in May, dozens of embassies open their doors across Washington, D.C. for this special city-wide celebration of international culture. The KCC remains a highlight, and this year’s program offered a full day of free performances and activities.
